Reading Your Workout

Your workouts are defined in two ways on your calendars: Zones and estimated heart rates. If you have been Lactate tested use the Zones to define your workout. If you have not been tested, use the general heart rate and breathing descriptions to do your workout.

Becoming!

"The life of the human soul is not a 'being' but a 'becoming.'"

Striving to be your best...

Steve Prefontaine said: "Anything less than your best is to sacrifice the Gift" good stuff!

"Human life will never be understood unless its highest aspirations are taken into account. Growth, self-actualization, the stiving toward health, the quest for identity and autonomy, the yearning for excellence (and other ways of phrasing the striving 'upward') must by now be accepted beyond question as a widespread and perhaps universal human tendency."
Abraham Maslow

Feedback: Waking and Standing Heart Rates

On your feedback page it is important to report your waking and standing heart rates. The waking heart rate is done while laying in bed upon waking (if you have to go to the bathroom, do it, and then lie back down). Just count your heart beats for 15 or 30 sec. and get your HR/min value. Next, stand, let your head clear, and repeat. Try to use the same technique and standing body position to keep values relative. Keep a log of both resting and standing HR's. If the HR's are higher vs. normal range it may indicate body fatigue / oncoming illness. This scenario is most likely the case unless you are extremely over trained. If the HR's are lower vs. normal range (beyond what is considered a "training effect") it could indicate adrenal fatigue. The best way to proceed is to keep a log and track changes in HR noting performance and health as a reference.

On focus, being in the moment, and effective recovery.

Commitment

"Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent."

Skepticism-The Easy Way To See Things

Skepticism is the default position, because the burden of proof is on the believer, not the skeptic.
